- A high quality stationary vertical wind tunnel will cost you anywhere from $2-$5 Million US Dollars. This type of tunnel can accommodate skydiving teams as well as tourists and would be considered "State-of-the-Art"
- A high quality portable vertical wind tunnel will cost you anywhere from $300,000 - $750,000 US Dollars. This type of tunnel can accommodate skydivers as well as tourists, and can be relocated easily to locations with high volume traffic.
- Poor quality wind tunnels sell in all price ranges, please be sure you do your homework before you purchase a poor quality tunnel at a High Quality price. Since the cost of building high quality facilities has become comparable to poor quality tunnels, there is no need to purchase second class vertical wind tunnels anymore.
Of course you want to know if your getting a good deal or at least what else is out there on the market. Unfortunately, there are very few quality companies that exist. Our purpose here is to prevent you from purchasing from an unqualified manufacturer and ending up with a machine that is either not sound, or safe. We work closely with all the manufacturers that we promote, if you find that a machine your interested in is not listed, it's because we cannot vouch personally for their business practices or product. Utilizing 20+ years of instruction and wind tunnel operations, we use our best judgment when deciding who to represent. We do not charge any facilities to be represented on this site; therefore, all you find are manufacturers who we trust to sell safe facilities with qualified follow up care & training. You will always make a safe purchase & good choices with John Suiter as your guide. Bodyflight Network and visiting www.bodyflight.net is always a good resource when doing your initial research.
We can consult with you on all aspects of your wind tunnel business, however if you are looking for a "recipe for a wind tunnel" we will not provide that information to you. Current manufacturers have collaboratively spent millions perfecting the design of a tunnel, and there is no reason to reinvent it at this point. We will recommend a facility from our manufacturer list that will best suit your needs and budget.
Yes we can. Although you will find that our largest market is currently in the United States, we do have a relationship with a quality manufacturer in Europe, and can direct you accordingly towards a safe purchase outside of the United States.
Depending on which unit you purchase this answer is different. Portable units build more quickly and are delivered or picked up in working order in approximately 6 - 9 months. Larger stationary units require much more construction and again depending on which unit you buy, you may purchase all the parts and have to secure contractors on your end to assemble it, or you may have to manufacturer parts or secure parts yourself, in which case active development and construction of this type of unit can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
When you are seeking a qualified opinion about any subject, it is always best to talk to someone with the most experience. You will find 20+ years of credentials, and real life experience with building, operating, designing and training in vertical wind tunnels, detailed in our site. We have found that it is best to start with a question and answer session via telephone in order to best answer your questions, as opposed to a Standard Informational Package since everyone's questions and needs are unique. As you can see between all of our sites, we offer generous amounts of information without a fee. Before choosing a representative in the Vertical Wind Tunnel Industry or for any major purchases for that matter, please check references.
